Situated on the eastern outskirts near Mogadishu's former animal market in the Huriwa district, Darmooley found itself at the center of the conflict.

Heavy gunfight echoed through the Darmooley neighborhoods on the east side of Mogadishu as clashes erupted between Eritrea-trained forces and the Ma’awisley militia, both vying for control of crucial checkpoints in the area, according to eyewitnesses on Saturday.

The armed confrontation ignited late on Saturday when Eritrea-trained forces launched an attack on a base held by the Ma’awisley clan militia.

Residents in the vicinity run to shelter as both sides used heavy machine guns.

Casualties are yet to be confirmed.

One resident reported that the Ma’awisley militia initially retreated but later regrouped with additional reinforcements from the city.

Situated on the eastern outskirts near Mogadishu’s former animal market in the Huriwa district, Darmooley found itself at the center of the conflict.

As of now, local district officials have not issued any statements, and the absence of police presence in the area raises concerns about maintaining order.

Roadblocks, coupled with militia groups extorting motorists and controlling residences, have become prevalent in many parts of the outskirts of Mogadishu.

Such situations often lead to clashes between militia groups, resulting in fatalities.

Just last week, a child lost their life as armed groups fought over extortion money collection in the Kaaraan district neighborhoods.
