Houthis Launch Missile, Drone Attacks on US Warships Off Yemen

SANAA, Yemen – The Iran-backed Houthis launched a series of missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. warships in the Red Sea off Yemen’s coast, a Pentagon spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday.

The assault involved at least eight one- way attack drones, five anti-ship ballistic missiles, and three anti-ship cruise missiles, all directed at the USS Stockdale and USS Spruance as they were navigating through the Bab al- Mandeb strait.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM)
forces were successful in repelling the attacks, with no damage or injuries reported on the American vessels according to military officials.

This incident follows a pattern of Houthi attacks on maritime traffic in the region often claiming their actions are in solidarity with the Palestinian cause during the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

The Houthis have intensified their attacks on shipping in this critical waterway, which connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden, impacting global trade routes.
