The Deputy Chairperson of the Somali Youth Association (SOIYA), Fihima Yusuf Quuje, spoke on the occasion of Somali Youth Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the vital role young people play in the country’s development, peace, and unity.
Fihima emphasized that the day is an opportunity to showcase the strength, creativity, and contribution of Somali youth, while underscoring the need to enhance support systems and create opportunities that ensure a bright future for the younger generation.
“Youth are the backbone of the nation and a key pillar for progress and peace. There must be continued investment in programs that improve their education, skills, and participation in politics and society,” said Fihima.
She also called on the federal government, regional administrations, international organizations, and civil society to stand with the youth and develop clear policies aimed at improving their living conditions and access to education.
Her remarks come at a time when SOIYA is leading a broad campaign to raise awareness among Somali youth, with a focus on peace, unity, and building a better future for the country.
