The Ministry launched the Green Djibouti 2030 Initiative, an ambitious program to plant 10 million trees over the next five years to combat desertification.
Leading the campaign, Hon. Yacqwub Mohamed Siyaad joined local youth, military units, and NGOs in planting the first 5,000 seedlings.
“Each tree we plant is an act of hope,” said the Deputy Minister. “Green Djibouti is a movement to heal our land and restore balance.”
The initiative aligns with the African Union’s Great Green Wall project and is co-funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
