Djibouti, October 29, 2025 — H.E. Nasa Ige, Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Djibouti, was among the distinguished guests who joined H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, in celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Somali Reconciliation Conference held in Djibouti.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and his delegation received a warm welcome upon arrival in Djibouti, where they attended the national ceremony commemorating Djibouti’s vital role in hosting the historic Somali Reconciliation Conference that paved the way for the re-establishment of Somalia’s Third Republic.
The event, hosted by H.E. Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, President of the Republic of Djibouti, honored Somalia’s leadership and people while officially inaugurating the new Horn of Africa Peace and Reconciliation Center, also known as the Carta Peace Monument — a landmark symbolizing unity, peace, and state-building efforts in Somalia.
During his stay, President Hassan Sheikh is expected to hold meetings with senior Djiboutian officials, highlighting the strong brotherly ties between the two nations. He will also deliver a keynote address reflecting on Somalia’s progress and achievements since the Carta Peace Conference, emphasizing regional cooperation, peace, and shared prosperity.
The presence of Minister Nasa Ige underscored Djibouti’s continued commitment to supporting peacebuilding, youth development, and regional stability across the Horn of Africa — principles that remain at the heart of Djibouti’s national vision and diplomatic leadership.
