Mogadishu, Wednesday, October 29, 2025 — H.E. Nasa Ige, Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Djibouti, attended the 102nd anniversary celebration of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, held at the Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu.
The event was graced by H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, who described the day as one of shared joy between the two brotherly nations.
“This is a day for us to jointly celebrate with our Turkish brothers — a day commemorating the courage and struggle led by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who laid the foundation for a modern republic that inspired the entire world,” said Prime Minister Hamza.
The Prime Minister emphasized that relations between Somalia and Türkiye remain deep-rooted, historical, and based on genuine brotherhood, recalling the historic visit by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Mogadishu in August 2011 — at a time when Somalia was facing severe drought and insecurity.
He added that this anniversary marks an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation between the two nations in trade, security, culture, education, and people-to-people relations.
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre also expressed his gratitude to the Government of Türkiye for its continued support to Somalia in key sectors such as security, defense, infrastructure development, and public services.
