Djibouti City, Djibouti — September 14, 2025: Hon. Mohamed Jibril Mohamed, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Djibouti, attended an official ceremony at the Presidential Palace, where President Ismail Omar Guelleh received the Letters of Credence from six newly appointed Ambassadors to the Republic of Djibouti.
The solemn event, held on Sunday morning, marked the beginning of diplomatic missions for representatives from France, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, Tanzania, and Romania.
The new ambassadors are:
H.E. Jérôme Bresson, Ambassador of France to Djibouti
H.E. Matrek Abdullah Matrek Aldosari, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
H.E. Abdelrahman Raafat Khattab, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt
H.E. Aqsa Nawaz, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
H.E. Innocent Shiyo, Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania
H.E. Olivia Toderean, Ambassador of Romania
Among these diplomats, the Ambassadors of Tanzania and Romania are accredited as non-resident ambassadors.
Each envoy expressed their strong commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation and strengthen the bonds of friendship between their respective nations and the Republic of Djibouti.
Speaking during the ceremony, Ambassador Jérôme Bresson of France reaffirmed his government’s intention to enhance the already privileged partnership between France and Djibouti:
“Because our interests meet so often, and because our friendship is deeply rooted in the hearts of our people, I will ensure that our bilateral relationship continues to grow stronger and more mutually beneficial,” he said.
He also highlighted Djibouti’s strategic importance in the Horn of Africa and praised its active diplomatic role in regional and global affairs.
The Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Matrek Abdullah Matrek Aldosari, praised the “excellent relations of friendship and cooperation” between the two brotherly nations and conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince.
Similarly, Ambassador Abdelrahman Raafat Khattab of Egypt reaffirmed his dedication to advancing the outcomes of the recent visit by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi to Djibouti, highlighting shared interests in areas such as ports, energy, education, and health.
Ambassadors from Pakistan, Tanzania, and Romania also emphasized their countries’ determination to expand cooperation with Djibouti, particularly in trade, investment, and economic development.
“We aim to intensify trade and development cooperation with Djibouti in key sectors that benefit both nations,” noted Ambassador Innocent Shiyo of Tanzania.
The event underscored Djibouti’s growing diplomatic relevance and strategic role in regional stability, as new ambassadors pledged to build stronger partnerships that support mutual prosperity.
