Hon. MP Ahmed Deeq Abdiaziz, a respected Member of the Jubbaland Parliament and Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee, paid an official working visit to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Geneva, Switzerland on 27 May 2025, as part of his broader diplomatic and diaspora outreach program across Europe.
The delegation was warmly received by H.E. Amb. Khadra Ahmed Duale, Ambassador of Somalia to Switzerland, alongside key members of the diplomatic mission, including the Consul, the First Secretary, and Mr. Said Ali Hidig, Chairman of the Somali Diaspora Union in Switzerland.
During the high-level meeting, discussions centered on strengthening collaboration between Jubbaland’s regional institutions and the Somali diaspora in Europe, especially in areas related to diplomacy, development, and investment.
“Our diaspora is a pillar of Somalia’s recovery and progress. Strengthening their links with institutions back home is essential for sustainable peace and development,” MP. Hon. Ahmed Deeq during his remarks.
Ambassador Khadra Ahmed Duale praised the visit as timely and significant, noting that ongoing engagement between Somali lawmakers and diplomatic missions reinforces national unity and international representation.
The visit concluded with a shared commitment to continued cooperation, with particular focus on diaspora-led initiatives and strengthening Somalia’s global engagement.
