Hon. Mohamed Mursal Mohamed, a member of the Puntland House of Representatives and the Parliamentary Committee on Security and Peace, held a high-level consultative meeting in the port city of Bosaso, bringing together regional and district officials, security leadership, traditional elders, business figures, and civil society representatives.
The meeting, held at the heart of Bosaso, focused on assessing the city’s security dynamics, economic potential, and the state of social cohesion. The dialogue was aimed at fostering collaboration between government structures and local communities to address shared challenges and chart a sustainable path forward.
“Bosaso holds a critical role in Puntland—not only as an economic hub, but also as a vital security pillar,” MP Mohamed Mursal stated. “The stability of this city directly influences the wider region, and it is essential that government institutions and citizens work hand-in-hand to protect peace and pursue development.”
Key issues addressed in the meeting included:
- Strengthening law enforcement coordination to safeguard urban security.
- Enhancing economic opportunities through better infrastructure and inclusive policy.
- Bridging communication gaps between community stakeholders and government institutions.
- Gathering grassroots insights to inform parliamentary discussions and long-term policy.
MP Mohamed Mursal emphasized his commitment to relaying the outcomes of the meeting—including the concerns, suggestions, and proposed solutions—directly to the Puntland Parliament, particularly the Security Committee, to ensure they inform meaningful action at the regional level.
He concluded by applauding the collaborative spirit demonstrated by Bosaso residents and authorities, underscoring that sustainable development can only be achieved where security, dialogue, and public trust intersect.
