ADDIS ABABA, Oct 12 (Horn Life) – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Sunday for an official working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two neighboring countries, according to a statement from Villa Somalia.
Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed warmly welcomed President Mohamud at Bole International Airport. Following the reception, the two leaders proceeded to the National Palace in Addis Ababa for a private meeting focused on key issues, including deepening bilateral relations, enhancing development cooperation, mutual respect for sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, as well as promoting stability in the Horn of Africa
Both leaders emphasized the need for robust cooperation based on good neighborliness, shared interests, and collective progress.
The visit comes amid ongoing efforts to bolster diplomatic relations between Somalia and Ethiopia, with both nations keen to advance collaboration in security, economic development, communication, and regional progress.
Further discussions are expected to address development projects and strategic partnerships between the two countries. Sources indicate that the leaders may also tackle issues related to Jubaland, including resolving tensions between the Somali government and the regional administration, as well as Ethiopia’s concerns over plans to establish a new Jubaland administration.
