MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least three members of the same family were killed in a militia attack in the Ceelow area of Warsheikh district, Middle Shabelle region, local sources confirmed on Saturday.
The attack, which occurred late Friday, was reportedly driven by clan-based tensions. The victims included two brothers and a local elder, killed during a gunfire exchange, according to residents.
A local resident, speaking to HornLife, said the situation remains tense, with the attackers having fled the scene. “No one has been arrested; they escaped, and there are no government forces here,” the resident said.
The violence follows earlier clashes in the area, where a man and other militiamen were reportedly killed, sparking the retaliatory attack that led to Friday’s deaths.
No official statement has been issued by the HirShabelle regional administration or Warsheikh district authorities regarding the killings.
Middle Shabelle has repeatedly been plagued by clan conflicts, with peace agreements between warring communities failing to take hold.
The Somali government has made several attempts to deploy forces to curb inter-clan fighting in the region, but ongoing violence continues to destabilize parts of HirShabelle state.
