Somalia’s military court on Monday executed two al-Shabaab members by firing squad after convicting them of involvement in targeted killings and ambush attacks.
The executed men were identified as Ibrahim Adan Madeey and Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, known within the group as Maaxi and Yoonis.
According to the court, both men were active in the militant group’s military wing and directly participated in assassinations and ambush operations in Mogadishu. Their cases had previously been reviewed by the Office of the Prosecutor before the final ruling was carried out.
The executions come amid a growing wave of capital punishments by Somalia’s military court against al-Shabaab operatives. In recent weeks, several convicted militants have been executed, while others remain on death row or face trial.
