Somalia: Three Al-Shabaab Militants Killed in Mudug Operation

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Local security forces stationed in Xarardheere district, within Somalia’s Mudug region, have conducted a meticulously planned military operation near the village of Jowle. The raid, launched earlier this week, led to the elimination of three Al-Shabaab militants believed to be responsible for a string of attacks and intimidation against local residents.

Local officials say the operation was based on solid intelligence and executed with precision. “Our forces acted on a clear plan, and the outcome was successful,” said Xarardheere District Commissioner, Casayr Ibrahim Mataan. “The militants were directly engaged and neutralized. Their bodies have been recovered.”

He added that the mission is part of ongoing efforts to root out Al-Shabaab elements from the region. “Our forces are on standby around the clock. These operations will continue until the threat is completely dismantled.”

One notable aspect of the operation was the active role played by nomadic herders in the area, who shared crucial information about militant movements. Their cooperation, according to security sources, was instrumental in the success of the raid.

“This kind of community support is exactly what we need,” a security official told local media. “When civilians and security forces work together, the results speak for themselves.”

Regular operations are being carried out in the surrounding areas to ensure peace and keep militant groups from regrouping. Officials believe community trust and engagement have become key factors in recent gains on the ground.

The district administration has vowed to press forward. “We will not stop until our region is safe,” said Commissioner Mataan. “The support from the people is what keeps us moving. Together, we will defeat those who threaten our peace.”
